The Vessel has long been associated as symbolic of the female figure. By definition, a vessel is a hollow utensil. It can be a chalice the holds something magical - a jar with nourishment or healing. The human heart is a vessel that holds love of mankind.
Each of the pieces begins with defining the image on canvas. At that point, layer upon layer is added, by using both collage and texture. This represents the many layers of lives women weave together. Paint is used to build more layers.
